Position will allow the individual to experience firsthand the various agronomic challenges associated with managing a newly renovated golf course. Intern will be involved in all advanced aspects of golf course maintenance including: Daily course set-up, fertilizer and pesticide calibration and application, record keeping, irrigation maintenance and repair, mechanical operation of equipment, and all cultural practices. Intern is expected to be a hard worker with aspirations of building solid agronomic practices and working towards becoming an Assistant or Superintendent. Individual will also be involved with various projects such as bunker construction, tee box construction, and irrigation installs.

Education: Currently enrolled in Associate or Bachelor’s Turfgrass Management or Agronomy Degree program.
Experience: Golf course maintenance experience preferred but not required.
Course Information
Indian Creek is a 27 hole public facility located in Elkhorn, Nebraska. We recently finished the final phase of a 3 year renovation with the final nine holes set to open in June of this year. The course presents a challenging layout which stretches out to over 7,200 yards from the championship tees.

Maintenance Budget: $750,000 + Tees: Perennial rye, Kentucky bluegrass, Poa annua

Position Details
Salary: $11 Hourly

Duties: All aspects of golf course maintenance, irrigation maintenance and troubleshooting, chemical/fertilizer calibration and application, implementation of various cultural practices, etc.

Pat and Karen are seeking a student intern or adult employee to begin work in May, and possibly continue through September. Duties include planting vegetables, weeding, irrigating, harvesting, preparing for sale outdoor crops. Also, indoor greenhouse duties including all plant care, watering, sale preparation, and interaction with customers at on-farm greenhouse.

Lil' Ladybug offers farmer's market sales at area communities during the summer, so reliable employee to maintain on-farm operation is important. Split work shift is preferable (early-morning, later day) to work outdoors in cooler temperatures and avoiding hot afternoon sun.

Local housing could be arranged on site, or at nearby farms, if needed.

Summer Intern Position Opening:
Four Winds golf course is looking for a highly-motivated individual with a great attitude to join our summer crew. This individual will get to experience many different aspects of golf course maintenance including attending Board of Directors meetings. This individual will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to implement management practices and course set-up on a daily basis.

Educational Requirements:
Prefer that applicant be currently enrolled in Turf or Agronomic field of study.

Experience Requirements:
Prefer some previous experience in golf course maintenance but will welcome student pursuing first experience in golf course maintenance with the right attitude.

Date Available:
Flexible summer schedule… anywhere from immediate start to late May start through early August or through irrigation winterization in November.

Comments:
Four Winds Golf Course is the jewel of the Kimball, NE community. Complete with an 18-hole golf course, 2-hole junior course, park, tennis courts, trap-shoot range and 4-field softball complex this Park and Recreation facility is a main source of summer recreation for the community.

Alma Municipal Golf Course

The Alma Municipal Golf Course is a city owned golf course situated in Alma, NE on the edge of the Harlan County Reservoir.
Responsibilities:
The operation and maintenance of the golf course and collateral grounds. This position requires substantial physical labor and the hours vary depending on the season and scheduled events.
Successful candidate will possess a minimum:
Two year degree in Turf Management or related field of study or certification in Turf Management.
Preferable Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent experience
Pesticide application license
Valid State of Nebraska Drivers License
Good communication & budgeting skills
The applicant must be willing to relocate to Alma or within a 15 minute response time area as determined by the board.
