Wayne Farmers' Market
The Wayne Farmers’ Market, located in Wayne, NE, runs through late October and is open Thursdays 4-7pm and Saturdays 9-12noon.
The Wayne Farmers’ Market began in 2006 and has grown from a few vendors and volunteers to a several vendors selling a variety of fresh produce, meats, eggs, baked goods, honey, jams, salsa, crafts and much more! The market is on the lawn of the Wayne County Courthouse in the city of Wayne and has become a place where community members convene to visit.
The market often has live music and special events including cooking demos, BBQs and children activities. Saturday mornings, you will often find volunteers leading free Yoga on the Green classes. The number of local producers at the market varies, but there are about 5-6 regulars at each market and many other occasional vendors.
The vendors & volunteers think local food/products are important because:
Local food has exceptional taste and freshness, it helps strengthen the local economy, they are supporting local family farms, protecting the local environment and safeguard their families’ health!
The market also has several local sponsors including:
State National Bank, Bomgaars, Pac 'N' Save Grocery, Big Red Country KCTY 104.9 and KTCH 1590 and and Wayne Area Economic Development/Chamber/Main Street!
Wayne Farmers’ Market has been a member of Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska for about 8 years. They chose to become members because:
We wanted access to the information and marketing available, and in turn wanted support the work of BFBLN. BFBLN presented at the Farmers Market Moms seminar in Wayne and that added credibility to what we were trying to establish with the Wayne Farmers Market. It also helps with promoting our market, educating our vendor/farmers and connecting us with other market events across the state.
