The number of farmers’ markets has has continued to grow rapidly here in Nebraska, and they keep growing with each new market season! Towns that have never hosted a local farmers’ market, now have busy weekly markets, offering food grown in or near their community and encouraging their community to eat healthier and build a vigorous local economy.

Farmers' Markets

Every farmer in our area has their own story, their own brand and approach to direct marketing. Coming together and sharing their resources at the farmers’ market can make all the difference to their economic survival. Of course, consumers also have the opportunity to know their farmer and their food. Farmers’ markets offer easy access to fresh wholesome local food that is grown almost in their own backyard, they promote a greater sense of community and economic vitality, and nurture social/human health.

Community Supported Agriculture

Is a food production and distribution system that directly connects consumers and farmers. Consumers develop a relationship with the farmer who grows their food and gains a better understanding of how their food is grown. The farmer offers a certain number of “shares”, typically the share consists of a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a membership or a subscription). Each of the listed CSA’s have their own diversified products, events and membership opportunity. Please contact them for their most resent information.

Member Testimony

“[BFBLN] has been a constant wealth of information by keeping the local farmer[s] informed of various events, workshops and opportunities. The program has provided a number of opportunities to help the local farmer[s] network with consumers. With [BFBLN’s] help at the Home and Garden Show in Omaha, GreenLeaf Farms launched their first ever CSA program! In addition the program has been a very successful educational tool to help consumers realize that locally grown food offers better quality and freshness. We cannot say enough for the assistance the BFBLN program has given us.”
