Have a "Shot" of Dessert
Alice Henneman, MS, RD, UNL Extension in Lancaster County
Let's face it -- some of the premium ice creams just don't come in low-calorie versions. Here's how to enjoy them AND keep your calories under control.
Sometimes a small amount of a higher-calorie food is all it takes to satisfy your taste buds. But, how do you serve guests just a few tablespoons of dessert?
Try scooping two or three tablespoons of a higher-calorie ice cream into a shot glass. One of those small cookie scoops works great. Serve on a small plate with a single petite cookie. Enjoy AND keep your calories around the 200-calorie level!
TIP: Test that your spoons fit into the shot glasses before using them for dessert. Or, your guests actually may have to drink their shot of dessert!
