The 2012 three day, livestock judging camp is currently being put together for youth interested in improving their livestock evaluation skills. The camp is open to youth (ages 10-18) for the novice and experienced participant alike. This year’s camp will not only provide and intense format for those who are dedicated to enhancing their livestock judging and oral reasons ability, but as provide less experienced or novice participants with useful knowledge to start judging more competitively.
Who is considered Novice?
Youth that have had little or no experience evaluating livestock or delivering oral reasons should be considered for this category. This should fit those youth that have judged a maximum of four years or less. These participants will enjoy the more laid back approach and basic approach to livestock evaluation and reasons.
Who is considered Experienced?
Youth that have judged more than three years and feel fairly confident in their abilities should be considered for this category. This division is designed for those youth that want to enhance all areas of judging abilities. These participants will be pushed during the entire camp to improve their talents.
Novice Camp Activities:
Novice youth will have many sessions dedicated to breaking down livestock and taking the time needed to understand livestock parts and big placing decision factors. Also, novice participants will be shown many basic evaluation activities and learning type activities that will improve their basic talents. Novice participants will have shorter sessions and be less focused on oral reasons.
Experienced Camp Activities:
Experienced youth will be more direct in the approach taken during camp. Experienced participants will need to come prepared to give several prepared and on the spot oral reasons. Camp participants will learn new and creative terminology for oral reasons. A great deal of focus will include understanding and using performance data in oral reasons for all species. Finally, participants will encouraged to truly understand the little differences in placing livestock.
This camp will be limited to the first 40 participants; so don’t delay!
COST $200
