State Public Speaking Contest

Senior Division winners at the Regional Public Speaking Contest in speech and radio PSA will advance to the State Public Speaking Contest. The PSA tapes/CD's of the winners will then be provided to the Nebraska Rural Radio Network for use on their three radio stations. Those who qualify for the state contest in the Speech Division must be present at the State Contest to receive the $25 cash award and to be eligible for the scholarships.  PSA contestants do not need to be present at the State Contest. 

Location -- State Fair

Date: Monday, September 2, 2013
Location: Heartland Event Center, Fonner Park in Grand Island, Nebraska
Register: 8:30-8:50 a.m. at the Heartland Event Center
Contest will begin at: 9:00 a.m.

Contest Entry Information

  • Registrations for the State Public Speaking Contest are due by August 1 to Cathy Johnston at 114 Agricultural Hall, P.O. Box 830700, Lincoln, NE  68583-0700.
  • The Entry Form completed at the Regional Public Speaking Contest and three (3) copies of the Speech Outline or PSA Outline must be submitted for each speech or PSA entered when registering for the state contest.
  • Registration for state competition must be submitted by the UNL Extension 4-H staff member who served as the Regional Contest Coordinator.
